🌸 Thoughts on Light, Wisdom, and Flying Higher

Reflections from My Mom’s Journals, post #6

“The lamps are different, but the light is the same.”

I absolutely love that quote from Rumi. He left behind so many timeless nuggets of wisdom. Honestly, I wish I could have lived alongside him—walked with him, listened to him, done life with him. I imagine I’d inhale all that wisdom and exhale nothing but love into the world.

But for now, his ancient words are still here to guide us.  I believe the “lamps” represent us—humans. Yes, we are all different and unique, but we are lit by the same light. That light, to me, is God. Or maybe our highest self. We come from that light, and when this life is over, I believe we return to it.

So why do we waste so much time trying to prove our differences?

Some of us may be spotlights, others flashlights, chandeliers, solar-powered, electric-powered... but at the end of the day, light is light. We should embrace and celebrate our differences, but never forget how deeply connected we are by what makes us the same.

And while we’re naming lights, I think I’ll claim to be part chandelier, part disco ball. Just the right mix of sparkle and flair!

“Never discuss winning with losers. It’s not their language.”

If you’re an eagle, don’t give up your highest goals and aspirations to hang out with chickens. They aren’t in a space to understand your vision—or support it.

Sometimes it feels like people are trying to blow out your candles or dampen your flame. But the truth might be simpler: you're seeking approval from someone who doesn’t get you. And they don't have to. They're just not your people.

Seek advice and feedback from those who have walked the path you're trying to walk—people you admire, people who get it. Those are your people. That’s your flock.

Until next time, keep shining, loving, and flying high!

Wishing you Love, Light & Sparkles!

I never knew, until today, that she also kept journals filled with these quotes and messages. I've decided to share the wonderful and inspiring entries from her journals with you. I hope you enjoy reading them and that they bring you inspiration or teach you something new. I'll be posting one page at a time, so I hope you'll keep checking back for more. I especially like number three: "Happiness is a choice. Peace is a state of mind. Both are free."
