📚Welcome to my blog - first post

Hello and welcome to my blog! I’m so thrilled you’ve found your way here.

My love of stories comes from my mom, who was a voracious reader with the most eclectic taste imaginable. Poetry, fiction, self-help, religion, sci-fi, non-fiction—you name it, she devoured it. What made her truly remarkable was that she often read books that didn’t line up with her own beliefs, simply because she wanted to understand every perspective. Debating with her was like going up against a walking library—you had to bring your A-game, because she always had her facts straight.

But my mom was so much more than her books. She was a mother, wife, grandmother, midwife, gardener with a magical green thumb, a loyal friend, and above all, a radiant spark of light in this world.

In 2021, at the far-too-young age of 70, we lost her to COVID complications.

One of her most beloved treasures was her Kindle. It went everywhere with her, and she’d sneak in a few pages anytime she had the chance. After she passed, my dad gave it to me, and inside I discovered her entire digital library: 426 books and 133 samples. I’ve made it my mission to read them all, slowly working my way through each one (I’m about 35 in so far). And oh, the lessons, surprises, and hidden gems I’ve already uncovered. That’s what inspired me to create this space—so I can share the wisdom, laughter, and sometimes wild adventures hidden in those virtual pages.

Since my dad always called her “Babe”—a nickname that eventually caught on with all the grandkids—I’ll be sharing these reflections under the series title “Babe’s Book Review.”

And because life is never just about books, I’ll also be dipping into her journals, memories, and the little treasures she left behind. They’re filled with wisdom, mystery, and a touch of magic that deserves to be shared.

So, that’s where this journey begins. A library, a legacy, and a whole lot of love. Where it will go? Well, we’ll find out together.

Enjoy the ride. ✨

Until next time, keep shining, loving & living your best life!

🌸Wishing you Love, Light & Sparkles!

🌸 Carrie

🌸Mom's Journals, entry #1

My dad recently found two journals that belonged to my mother and gifted them to me—what a treasure!  S he often wrote positive messages and quotes on index cards and placed them strategically throughout the house. I never knew, until today, that she also kept journals filled with these quotes and messages. I've decided to share the wonderful and inspiring entries from her journals with you. I hope you enjoy reading them and that they bring you inspiration or teach you something new. I'll be posting one page at a time, so I hope you'll keep checking back for more. Wishing you Love, Light & Sparkles, 🌸 Carrie “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough…”  - Albert Einstein “ The difference between genius and stupidity is - genius has limits ” “Don’t cry because it’s over - Smile because it happened.” - Dr. Seuss “ Don't waste your time on explanations - people only hear what they want to ” “ T T F N - Ta ta for now ”  - Tigger “The tyrant wi...

🌸Mom's Journals, entry #2

Reflections from My Mom’s Journals, post #2 “There is no dollar sign on peace of mind.”   - Elin Hilderbrand  "The punishment of every disordered mind is its own disorder."   - St. Augustine                                                                      "Happiness is a choice. Peace is a state of mind. Both are free.”   - Amy Leigh Mercree "We never get what we want — we get what we are.   - Doran Cooks They’re all great quotes!
