🌸 Reflections from Mom’s Journals — Entry #15

If the words you spoke appeared on your skin… would you still be beautiful?  Oscar Auliq-Ice

Death is not the greatest loss in life.  The greatest loss in life is what dies inside us while we live.

Norman Cousins

ONE DAY

OR

DAY ONE

YOU DECIDE!

Paulo Coelho

💬 If the Words You Spoke Appeared on Your Skin… Would You Still Be Beautiful?

Whew.
That one hits harder than a surprise zit on picture day.

Take a breath. Let it simmer. Because babe… this is one of those questions that reaches into your soul, fluffs its pillows, and says, “Hey sweetie, we need to talk.”

Imagine this: every word you’ve ever said to yourself—every little whisper, mutter, mental meltdown, or dramatic monologue—POOF! It shows up on your skin like a tattoo. 💭
Yikes, right?

Let’s just say, if my self-talk showed up in ink, I might look like a human version of a bathroom stall in a middle school—covered in passive-aggressive notes, anxious doodles, and maybe a few “WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS??” scribbles. Not cute. Not glowy. Not even a little Instagrammable.

🎭 We Would NEVER Talk to Our Friends Like This

Honestly, if I spoke to you the way I sometimes speak to myself, you’d block me, report me, and avoid me at all cost.

But here’s the truth:
My brain? She’s a drama queen.
She invents wild plots. She leaps to conclusions. She’s like a reality TV producer tossing around worst-case scenarios like confetti.

Just because my brain thinks something doesn't mean it's true.
Repeat after me:
“My thoughts are not facts. My thoughts are not facts.”

🛑 You Can Hit the Mental Pause Button

I’ve realized (FINALLY): I don’t have to believe everything I think.

I get to question it. Flip it. Reframe it. Even roll my eyes at it and say, “Girl, calm down.”

We don’t have to be hostages to our inner dialogue.
We get to be the boss. The conductor. The head diva-in-charge.  We can recognize when that mental train starts to derail and say, “Nope, not today, definitely not today!”

💖 Speak Like You Actually Love Yourself

So today—and maybe tomorrow too—I’m choosing a different playlist for my mind.
No more shamey reruns. No more anxious bloopers.
I’m turning up the volume on words like:

  • “You are enough—even in leggings and a messy bun.”

  • "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me." (KIDDING!!)

  • “Progress, not perfection, sweetheart.”

  • “You’re actually kinda magical.”

Because if the words I speak to myself did show up on my skin?
I want them to shimmer with truth.
I want them to sparkle with softness.
I want them to be beautiful, bold, and bursting with all kinds of fabulousness!

✨ Final Thought, Gorgeous:

Be kind to your mind.
Speak love. Speak light.  Be Love.  Be Light.
💋💫

✨ What’s Dying Inside You, Darling? Let’s Talk. 💫

Ohhh honey, sit down, grab your glitter pen and a cup of tea (or champagne, no judgment here) because we are about to get a little deep—but with sequins, of course.

Let’s just get this out of the way: yes, this quote is a little heavy. But also? It’s the kind of soul-snapping truth that stops you mid-scroll, mid-latte sip, mid-life. It's the quote that taps on your shoulder and whispers, "Hey babe, are you really living… or just kinda existing in neutral with a smiley face filter on?"

Let’s be real for a second—like, real real.
We’ve all had seasons (or decades, no shame) where something inside of us quietly curled up and went to sleep. Dreams got dusty. Confidence caught a cold. Passion packed up and left a Post-it note saying, “It’s not you, it’s your fear of failing.”
And meanwhile… we kept on smiling. Doing. Achieving. Posting.
But inside?
Something sparkly went dark.  You lost the glitter in your soul.  (totally talking about me here!)

🕯️ What Dies While We Live?

It’s not always dramatic. It’s not always obvious.
Sometimes, it’s the quiet deaths that hurt the most:

  • The dream you buried because “you’re too old now” (as if creativity has an expiration date… please).

  • The voice you silenced because someone told you you were “too much” or “too extra.”

  • The art you stopped making. The songs you stopped singing. The business you never started. The love you never let yourself feel fully.

We don’t talk about these little deaths enough. We don’t grieve them. We don’t resurrect them. We just… adapt.
And the world becomes a little dimmer because of it.

💥 But Guess What? If You Are Reading This… You’re Still Here.

And if you're still here, babe, then it’s not too late.

Whatever flickered out inside of you—it can flicker back on. You can pull that dusty dream off the shelf, give it a glittery makeover, and say, “Welcome back, darling. I missed you.”

You’re allowed to revive what you thought was too far gone.

You’re allowed to reignite the parts of you that you muted to be more “palatable.”

You’re allowed to shine so freakin’ bright, it makes people need sunglasses just to be in your vibe.

Go ahead and blast the song!

The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades!

✨ Here’s Your Permission Slip:

Let this be your official invitation to stop letting parts of you die quietly.
To laugh louder. To dance like no one is watching. To start that ridiculous idea.
To fall in love (with life, with yourself, with the stranger at the coffee shop—who knows?).
To feel alive again. Fully. Audaciously. Sparkle-and-confetti-level alive.

Because living isn’t just about breathing. It’s about burning—with joy, with purpose, with creativity, with curiosity.

So tell me, sweet soul…
What have you been letting die inside you?

And better yet—what are you ready to bring back to life?

You’ve got the match. Strike it, light it up. 🔥💖

💋✨ Until next time... keep loving & living your best life!💋✨

🌸Wishing you Love, Light & Sparkles!

🌸 Carrie

🌸Mom's Journals, entry #1

My dad recently found two journals that belonged to my mother and gifted them to me—what a treasure!  S he often wrote positive messages and quotes on index cards and placed them strategically throughout the house. I never knew, until today, that she also kept journals filled with these quotes and messages. I've decided to share the wonderful and inspiring entries from her journals with you. I hope you enjoy reading them and that they bring you inspiration or teach you something new. I'll be posting one page at a time, so I hope you'll keep checking back for more.
